Orbit 2.0, Part 6: ore trading and events tied to place. Trading is now the fourth activity alongside hunting, mining and jobs, and events no longer come on a timer — they happen where you’re actually doing something.
- Ore trading at every station: ore for ions, “sell 10” or “sell all”. The rate rises toward the center: 2 ions per ore outside, 3 in the Hangar, 4 in the Embers. Every sale saturates that station’s market — the rate drops by up to half and recovers by one ore every two seconds. Ions carry over after the flight, ore doesn’t, so selling is a genuine trade-off between banking it and pushing on.
- Events happen at a place, not on a clock. The timeline now only shows the recall.
- Swarm Ring: an ambush the first time you fly into the wreck graveyard in the Hangar or the Embers. The Scrapyard’s graveyard stays quiet.
- Double Ring: closes in once a relic is half decoded.
- Meteor Storm: mining a field in the Hangar or Embers can trigger one at the earliest after 60 s, then at most every 4 minutes (6 rocks in the Hangar, 9 in the Embers).
- Elite Patrol: three elite spinners slowly circle the Hangar at 3,000 px (one lap takes a good eight minutes). Get within 1,400 px and they’re on you; the next patrol starts four minutes later on the opposite side.
- Fortress Line: the first time you fly into the Embers, four fortresses stand between you and the Core.
- None of this happens in a station’s safe zone. Everything resets on a system jump.
- The line under the timeline no longer shows “next event in …” — just zones, the plague, and, in the last five minutes, the recall.
- New in-game help entries: TRADING and LOCAL EVENTS.
