Components from wreck parts, refraction as a true beam split.
- Components: When you shoot up wreck parts in Orbit, components fly out and tumble away. The tractor beam pulls them in (with a larger radius than for ore), and once collected they go permanently into the depot. There are five, one for each Hangar category:
- Armor Plate (Hull): dented, with a patch slapped on
- Plasma Coil (Arsenal): copper winding around a glowing core
- Thrust Nozzle (Propulsion): a bell that’s still glowing inside
- Quantum Chip (Lab): with golden bug legs and a glowing eye
- Energy Cell (Bay): a battery with a green viewing window, a little rarer
- Large wrecks drop 1–2, medium ones one at a 45 % chance, small ones at 12 %.
- All five are 3D models from the model forge, baked into 24 rotation frames. In space, they spin inside a glow of their own colour.
- Hangar: From the second upgrade tier on, every upgrade needs components from its category on top of ions (tiers 2 and 3 one each, tiers 4 and 5 two each, and so on). The first tier stays free. The depot sits in the Hangar header, the costs show what’s needed and what you have, and if parts are missing, the button tells you which.
- Refraction (Laser) reworked: If a meteorite sits in the beam, the beam fans out there into real side beams (two per boon level, 420 px, each hitting up to two targets for 35 % of the beam damage). Before, it spat out single pulse shots. In Orbit, the rock stays intact; it’s only the prism.
