New space: painted planets, a sky for each ring, backdrops from the 3D models.
- Planets: Six worlds, newly painted (
scripts/planeten.py), with spherical projection, a surface made from 3D noise, lighting with a soft shadow line and an atmospheric rim. Before, there were three flat, single-tinted discs.- Gas giant: banded, with a storm vortex and a ring that passes in front of the sphere and behind it, and carries the planet’s shadow
- Ice world: with cracks
- Lava world: with glowing veins, even on the night side
- Rocky moon: with craters
- Toxic world: banded in green
- Ocean world: continents, clouds and polar caps
- A sky for each ring:
- cold on the outside (ice world, gas giant, moon, nebulae in cyan and violet)
- colourful in the middle (toxic world, ocean world, nebulae in magenta and green)
- hot on the inside (lava world, gas giant, nebulae in amber and red)
- When you change rings, planets and nebulae crossfade over two and a half seconds. The menu and Arcade have their own sky.
- The main planet is always in the sky: It has its own screen-sized tile and only drifts gently onward as you fly.
- Backdrops instead of Kenney parts: The flat station parts in the background have been replaced by decommissioned stations, gates and guardian wrecks. They’re baked from the 3D models (eight viewing angles each) and drift in the distance, dark and slowly tumbling.
backe-bildfolge.mjsnow takes a target name (environment variableZIEL). Before, baking the station would have overwritten the painted station image.
