Real weapon sounds. From Benni’s sound pack (Future Weapons, Laser Beam), five weapons now play their own recordings instead of synth tones:
- Pulse Gun: a short blaster “pew” with a falling whistle.
- Heavy Gun: a laser cannon blast with a long tail, with a quiet low tone underneath for the weight of the shot.
- Snake: a shimmering hand-weapon shot.
- Drone swarm: a short, bright blaster burst.
- Ion Laser: a beam tone as a seamless loop of 20 pulse periods, slightly softened, with the old hum underneath as body.
Every playback varies the pitch by a few percent, so sustained fire doesn’t sound canned. Volumes are matched to the other sounds. From each salvo the last shot was cut, because its tail fades out naturally (scripts/sfx-schneiden.py). Enemies and guardians keep their synth salvo sound, so they don’t sound like your own Heavy Gun. Missiles and explosions stay synthetic for now, since the pack had no explosions.
