The icon sheet is in the game now — wherever a symbol represents an object. 36 hand-painted icons, cut out from the original art sheet, used in two places:
- Currencies in the HUD: ions (green crystal), ore (hexagon with crystals), tokens (gold bars), wreck parts (armor plates) — replacing the drawn shapes.
- Shop cards at the trading post: every card now carries a picture instead of a line icon — Repair the cross, Capsule the canister, Nova the energy orb, Escort the drone, Vault the gate, Cargo the gold bars, the modules an arrow, a target and a bolt.
Deliberately left unchanged: skill tree rows and HUD labels. At 16 px, painted icons turn to mush, and the skill tree lives on its neon line art. Rule: object = picture, glyph = line.
On the first pass, cutting out the art also removed anything green (shield, the green crystal, chevron, drone) — the fix was keying by distance to the background color instead of by green content, with rows and columns read from the gaps in the sheet instead of a fixed grid.
